Surf conditioning: A few exercises

I’m Steve Sorensen, a huge fan of surfing. I catch waves every chance I get. However, I believe that people who want to get into the hobby shouldn’t take it lightly. There are many important points to consider. Image source: quiksilver.com For this blog, I’ll be talking about how to get your body in shape for surfing. Remember that surfing is a physically demanding activity where you’ll not only be balancing yourself on a board, you’ll also be paddling and swimming. If you’re out of shape, you’ll have a much harder time in the water. First off, you should focus on your legs. Squats and lunges will do the trick. Do around 20 repetitions of each a day, one month before surfing, and your legs will be in prime condition to support your body. Next up, do some ab work via crunches, reverse crunches, and twists. This will strengthen your core, which will be needed for surfing. Then, strengthen your shoulders, chest, and arms, all of which will be needed for paddlin...
