Rock climbing
can be done both indoors and outdoors. A full-body workout, rock climbing can help develop a surfer’s balance, strength, flexibility, endurance, and dynamic movements. Many surfers find themselves enjoying rock climbing as the sport encourages an individual to face challenges such as vertigo of the heights or fear of falling. Much like surfing, rock climbing pushes one towards self-discovery and adventure. Steve Sorensen.

For specific exercises that offer the best cross-training for surfers, the squat jump joins the list. This simple exercise targets the lower body while trains the whole body for explosive movements. The rear-foot elevated split squat is considered by experts as one of the greatest low-body strength exercise for all athletes. As balance and stability are incredibly important in surfing, this exercise eliminates the chance for one to develop imbalances in training. Steve Sorensen.
